Our Thankful for My Community program will include a storytime featuring Oge Mora’s Thank You, Omu! read by librarian staff. The program will also borrow the idea for the “Pot of Thankfulness” from SEL Dallas: Thank You, Omu! The “Pot of Thankfulness” demonstrates how Omu generously fed her community with her big pot of ‘delicious stew,’ but when it was her turn to eat, her stew was all gone. Omu’s kindness and generosity was infectious and in turn, her community brought Omu food so they could sit down together to enjoy the feast. Participants will also enjoy a chalk art component to our Thankful for My Community program. After storytime and the “Pot of Thankfulness” craft, participants will be led by librarian staff to the pathways around the Library Park to write and draw expressions of kindness and thanks to the community. |
