Event/Program information |
Our program will begin with a Showcase featuring student performers from Elizabeth Cohen’s Eng379 Spoken Word class and continue with a multilingual open-mic competition to which all SUNY Plattsburgh students are invited to participate. Interested students will sign up to participate in on a sign up sheet when they enter the event. Students will prepare and perform original works, which are scored in categories such as physical presence, voice and articulation, and dramatic appropriateness. This event is free and open to the public. Program Design: Tentative Schedule: 3:30-3:40 Welcome Ceremony (“Funga Alafia”) *Michael Lewandowski, drumming 3:45-4:45 Eng379 Spoken Word performances 4:45-5:15 Interlude: “Hold fast to dreams” *I’m organizing readings of this poem in multiple languages 5:15-6:15 Multilingual Open Mic 6:15-6:30 Awards, Refreshments |
