The program will be held in the is Madison Building, Mumford Room, 649. The Young Readers Center and the Center for the Book of the Library of Congress convene a DIA symposium to explore how to use culturally diverse literature to support families and teen literacy. Deborah Taylor of the Enoch Pratt Free Library and recipient of the 2015 Virginia Hamilton Lifetime Achievement award will moderate this panel of distinguished authors, who will offer insights on creating work that celebrates all families. Panelists are 2015 Newbery Medal recipient Kwame Alexander, Gigi Amateau, Meg Medina, Ellen Oh, and Tim Tingle. This ninety-minute program includes opportunities for interaction among the audience of educators, parents, health and social service professionals, publishers, and writers.
