Toddlers and preschoolers will enjoy special storytime programs centered on Hispanic culture and literature to celebrate El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children's Day/Book Day). Storytime Ages and Times: Age 1 at 10:15 a.m., Age 2 at 11:00 a.m., Ages 3-5 at 11:45 a.m. Also see the special displays throughout the month of April during library opening hours which include special artifacts and puppets in the display case, plus several book displays representing Hispanic culture and literature. These are exhibited to celebrate El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children's Day/Book Day). The displays include: Pura Belpré award-winning books, books authored by Pura Belpré, a display about her life and career (she was the first Latina librarian at the New York Public Library who became a famous author, storyteller, and puppeteer), puppets of the characters from one of her books, and a display of books which are bi-lingual (Spanish and English text). For children ages 5-12. |
